The shop
FNQ WholeFoods is a small shop that does four things properly: local produce, a real choice between organic and spray-free, a pantry section worth the trip, and bread that is worth getting in early for.
The whole reason the shop exists. Fruit and veg from growers around Atherton, Tolga, Malanda and Mareeba, picked close to home rather than trucked across the country. What is on the shelf changes with the season, which is exactly how it should be.
You choose. We keep certified organic, spray-free and conventionally farmed produce side by side and label which is which, so you are never guessing. Plenty of small Tablelands farms grow spray-free without the certification paperwork, and their produce is superb.
Flours, grains, legumes, nuts, seeds and the everyday dry groceries that fill a real pantry. We are also a listed stockist of The Australian Superfood Co, so native Australian ingredients are on the shelf in Atherton instead of a week away in a delivery van.
Baked by Ellinjaa Cascades and delivered fresh to us: organic sourdough loaves and the garlic focaccia that people plan their week around. It regularly sells out, so a quick phone call before you drive in from Yungaburra or Herberton is never a bad idea.
Who makes it
A wholefoods shop is only as good as the growers and makers behind it. Ours are close to home: Tablelands farms for the fruit and veg, a local bakery for the bread, and an Australian native food company for the pantry range.

Most of our regulars come from around the Tablelands: Atherton itself, Tolga just up the road, Yungaburra and Malanda across the way, Herberton up the hill, and a fair few who call in from Mareeba while they are passing through.

Organic produce is grown to a certified organic standard. Spray-free means the grower has not used chemical sprays on the crop, without carrying that certification. Plenty of small Tablelands farms grow spray-free. At FNQ WholeFoods we label which is which, so you always know exactly what you are buying.
Local first. The Atherton Tablelands is some of the best growing country in Queensland, so our fruit and veg comes from farms around Atherton, Tolga, Malanda and Mareeba wherever the season allows. When something is not grown locally, we bring in the best we can find and tell you where it came from.
